Spring had finally arrived and I made the first of what would become my annual trek to the lake. Each time I would take a different rout so as not to leave a trail. It had crossed my mind that any of his species I meet this time just might -not- be 'he himself'. But having only encountered one (known) family unit my guess is that they're the territorial type. One tends to entertain such thoughts on long journeys and at last, after suffering some bad weather I made it. I'd arrived early evening and set up camp a good distance from the edge. If he came ashore I couldn't have him possibly putting out the fire and soaking my gear. ----

A few weeks had gone by without any inkling of the event. Well, offically anyway but there were TONS of rumors which brought out the hard-to-not-notice local news reporters! (both paper and TV) There was everything from 'boogey man' type stories, conspiracy theories, alien landings and on down to 'it's just a dumb promotional stunt'. Of course the pranksters, young and old (every town has a few) couldn't resist making fake tentacles and sticking them out of shrubbery, hanging them down from tree branches or laying them out from the edge of the road. The lid was closed behind me and I heard something snap into place. Soon several voices muffled through the metal and water could be heard. Pretty much doubled on myself, I tried to stay still but found it difficult. The air stopped suddenly, then I, the metal and all was lifted up and the water shifted only to be roughly set down again! *What was going on out there?! Gotta stay calm and trust him, he's gotten me -this- far.* This time after the angry sounding voices calmed down I braced myself on all sides and the movement was much smoother. I heard-felt a loud thump then silence. Soon a soft rumbling and more sense of movement.

It was the "Explorer". The second the fumes hit me I knew he was celebrating his first-night's success! Still in his outfit and helmet, he used the heavy tent flap to balance himself. "Ah, good evening sir." I addressed him. "Oh, wha' har you do'n here?" he demanded defensively. The fact that he no longer spoke with an Australian accent shouldn't have suprised me. It was pretty much to be expected really. "Just putting my gear away sir, ....you OK?" He deflated, his claws stopped flexing and his anger melted to shock and recognition. He put both palms to the glass not believing that it was me! I put my hands up to his. A faint glimmer of hope shone in his slitted eyes then died as he started to turn and go back to the shadows. "Wait!" He stopped and looked sadly back over his shoulder, he seems to have given up. "Just hold on, I'll get you out of here but it may take me some time." He raised an eyebrow, but he looked doubtful. -- We both startled as we heard voices getting closer. Finally the second flying thing arrived and my chain was hooked and hauled in. I couldn't resist too long inspite of gripping boulders, I had to let them pull me out or get my neck broken! *When had the humans gotten so strong?!* I discovered that a ground traveling metal whatsis was pulling me up, a thick metal rope with a hook had caught the chain. *So it -wasn't- powerful humans as I first thought. Good, That ment they were still vunerable*. (!) This time I was not just pulled out, but was pulled along the ground halfway between the water and the loud flying metal thing! So dry here, the heat! *What were they going to do with me now?!* All I had wanted to do was get the person to others of his kind who could help him better than I could. I had cloaked and made noises which worked perfectly. The other humans came to his aid and I quietly slipped away. I'd just started for home, now that I knew he'd be safe I was able to relax. A struggling fish had caught my attention from a near by branch-off in the water system. I'd passed it earlier of course but I had priorties at that time. When had I eaten last? I had been out of the hospital now for almost two months. It had taken them some time to put me back to rights and even longer for me to heal from my various wounds. I vaguely remember the events that happened before I found myself in a helicopter surrounded by EMTs. I have no real idea of what to call him. 'River Monster' seemed a bit harsh and he wasn't a 'beast'. I thought about his markings and they reminded me of how Spies were depicted in movies. The person-thing's coloration patterns looking like a balaclava, gloves and believe it or not a pinstripe jacket! *So, would he then be an 'Octospy?' 'Squid...something'? No. Hmmm.

I somehow regained conscienceness. Something hurt....oh yeah....~everything~. I tried stretching and a searing pain lanced out from my arm! "Aarg!" *Oh, that's right.* I attempted to open my eyes, only one seemed to respond and the vision was blurry. I could barely move and what didn't feel broken had a sharp burning sensation. Did he have poison in his claws?! I wanted to throw up and die at the same time. I almost passed out again when I tried to move my left leg. My right leg still worked but I could feel where cloth was glued to wounds by semi-dried blood. I don't know how long I laid there, but when I cracked my eye open again

Spies In Disguise / Planes Easter Eggs

Anyone else who has seen this film, the main character has a toy from his childhood. A talking toy unicorn "Unity" (Uni - tee?) Later in the film you encounter the big bad guy the real villain deals with, Katzu Kurmura (sp?) When the spy catches up to Kurmura, in a closeup he has a bandage on his nose. . . with pictures of "Uni-tee" on it! Just some doofy little thing I noticed. Also, in the animated movie 'Planes' where Dusty goes to train as a Fire Fighter. In the park Lodge where the Senior Park Ranger is speaking with a US Governor or Senator, (someone rather high-up) As they are walking past an info board with questions about the local wildlife, if you have it on a large screen or can enlarge it, pause the movie. You will see a reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail! One of the questions is: What is the flight speed of a laden Red-Nosed Balsa Thrush? Continue finding other fun little Easter Eggs!
