Small Beginnings EndSpring had finally arrived and I made the first of what would become my annual trek to the lake.
Each time I would take a different rout so as not to leave a trail.
It had crossed my mind that any of his species I meet this time just might -not- be 'he himself'.
But having only encountered one (known) family unit my guess is that they're the territorial type.

One tends to entertain such thoughts on long journeys and at last, after suffering some bad weather I made it.

I'd arrived early evening and set up camp a good distance from the edge.
If he came ashore I couldn't have him possibly putting out the fire and soaking my gear.

Small Beginnings 9.5A few weeks had gone by without any inkling of the event.
Well, offically anyway but there were TONS of rumors which brought out the
hard-to-not-notice local news reporters!
(both paper and TV)

There was everything from 'boogey man' type stories, conspiracy theories, alien landings and on down to 'it's just a dumb promotional stunt'.

Of course the pranksters, young and old (every town has a few) couldn't resist making fake tentacles and sticking them out of shrubbery, hanging them down from tree branches or laying them out from the edge of the road.
And yes, even the bars and diners jumped on the bandwagon with speciality drinks and sSmall Beginnings 9.5 by ~KlayBird

Small Beginnings pt. 9The lid was closed behind me and I heard something snap into place.
Soon several voices muffled through the metal and water could be heard.
Pretty much doubled on myself, I tried to stay still but found it difficult.
The air stopped suddenly, then I, the metal and all was lifted up and the water shifted only to be roughly set down again!

*What was going on out there?!
Gotta stay calm and trust him, he's gotten me -this- far.*

This time after the angry sounding voices calmed down I braced myself on all sides and the movement was much smoother.
I heard-felt a loud thump then silence.
Soon a soft rumbling and more sense of movement.

Small Beginnings pt. 8It was the "Explorer".

The second the fumes hit me I knew he was celebrating his first-night's success!
Still in his outfit and helmet, he used the heavy tent flap to balance himself.

"Ah, good evening sir." I addressed him.
"Oh, wha' har you do'n here?" he demanded defensively.
The fact that he no longer spoke with an Australian accent shouldn't have suprised me.
It was pretty much to be expected really.

"Just putting my gear away sir, ....you OK?" I asked as he swayed a little,
an almost full bottle clutched in his hand told me that that wasn't his first bottle he was working on tonight. ( ! )

So far it's just the Pyro and Demoman, but still, (!) Now if only they'd make the same in BLU.
Of course I'll -have- to buy two of each figure in both RED and BLU. One set to keep sealed and one to play with. Can't wait till they make the Medic!! I hope they have packs of 'extras' later on too like the 'Eyelander' and the "Chargin' Targ" for Demo and the '3d Degree' and 'meet the pyro' items for....Pyro.
